Students from across the eight faculties of the university attended, totaling about 200 hundred, which was chaired by the centre director, Prof. Sam Ayodele. According to Ayodele, the centre organises the programme every semester in order to equip and prepare its students for academic research writing so that they can stand tall among their contemporaries elsewhere.
In his opening remarks, the director informed the students that the orientation was part of the fallout of the external supervisors’ remarks during moderation and the M.Sc. Project defense.
A lecture was delivered by the centre’s Chief Counselor, Mr. Kingsley Arogunyo, who gave detailed and comprehensive steps towards writing a good research project. It began with how to select a researchable project topic and discussed the process chapter by chapter, including the principles guiding abstract writing.
The students, for their part, relished the experience and called on the centre management to give them more opportunities of this nature to learn more. At the end of the presentation, students were given the opportunity to ask questions, and answers were given.
