The Faculty of Law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is committed to providing accessible, high-quality legal education through open and distance learning. Admissions Information

Admission to the Faculty of Law at NOUN does not require a JAMB registration number for data verification and eligibility assessment.

NOUN offers several admission pathways for postgraduate law programs:

  • Postgraduate Admission:
    • Requires a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution.
    • A NYSC certificate may be required. Check the NOUN admissions portal for details.
    • MPhil and PhD applicants are screened via interview.
  • Inter-University Transfer: Students transferring from other universities into postgraduate law programs must meet NOUN's admission requirements, including holding a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, and possess a JAMB registration number.

How to Take Exams at NOUN

Examinations at NOUN are conducted in a structured and secure environment. Here's an overview of the process:

  1. Eligibility: To be eligible for examinations, students must have:
    • Completed course abd exam registration.
    • Paid all required fees.
    • Met the minimum TMA (Tutor Marked Assignment) score requirement (usually 30%).
  2. Examination Schedule: The examination schedule is published on the NOUN website and student portal well in advance.
  3. Examination Venues: Examinations are held at designated study centers across the country. Students are assigned to a specific venue based on their location.
  4. Examination Conduct:
    • Students must bring their valid student ID card and examination slip to the venue.
    • Strict rules against cheating and malpractice are enforced.
    • Mobile phones and other unauthorized electronic devices are not allowed in the examination hall.
  5. Results: Examination results are released online through the student portal.

No! you don't need to sit for JAMB but a JAMB registration number is required for all admission pathways at NOUN, including General Admission, Direct Entry, Inter-University Transfer, primarily for data verification and eligibility assessment. But this is not required for Postgraduate Admission.
NOUN students are excluded from participating in the NYSC programme. Our graduates will receive a “Letter of exclusion from NYSC”, which grants them the same rights as an NYSC certificate. NOUN graduates are not yet eligible to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, subject to meeting the NYSC's requirements.
