About this policy

NOUN Update is operated by NOUN Update Educational Consultant, a registered business in Nigeria (BN 8844728). This policy sets out our standards for advertisements, sponsored content, affiliate promotions and the promotion of our own paid services across nounupdate.com.

Our independent status

NOUN Update is an independent educational and student-support platform. We are not an official arm, representative or partner of the National Open University of Nigeria. Registration does not constitute University approval or endorsement.

Advertising on this platform does not establish a relationship with the University or imply that the University approves an advertiser, product or service. Advertisers must not suggest otherwise.

Clear identification of commercial content

Advertisements and sponsored placements must be distinguishable from independent editorial content. Directly arranged paid placements should carry an appropriate label, such as Advertisement, Sponsored or Paid Promotion, close to the content.

Where an affiliate or referral arrangement means we may receive a commission or another benefit, that relationship should be disclosed near the relevant recommendation or link. A general policy notice does not replace a disclosure on the placement itself.

Editorial independence

Payment does not entitle an advertiser or sponsor to change factual reporting, suppress a correction or present a commercial claim as an independently verified fact.

Sponsored information remains subject to our standards for accuracy and clear attribution. Paid placement does not guarantee a favourable review or editorial recommendation.

Our own services and recommendations

We may promote relevant NOUN Update tools, resources and paid services. These promotions should identify the service as our own and explain material prices, access conditions, expected outputs and limitations accurately.

A NOUN Update service must not be described as an official University requirement. Fees charged for our independent services must be distinguished from fees payable to the University. Purchasing our services does not guarantee admission, examination success, grades, graduation or any official decision.

Advertiser responsibilities

Advertisers must provide an accurate business identity, working contact details and truthful descriptions of their offers. Material prices, charges, eligibility conditions, delivery terms and refund conditions must be clear before a purchase.

Advertisers must have permission to use supplied images, logos, testimonials and other content. University branding, official-looking documents and claims of institutional affiliation must not be used to mislead readers.

Prohibited advertising

We do not knowingly accept advertisements that promote fraud, impersonation, phishing, malware, unsafe credential sharing, fake scholarships, forged academic records or deceptive guarantees about admission, grades, certificates or official decisions.

Advertisements must not solicit University passwords, one-time passcodes or access to student accounts for impersonation or unauthorised activity.

We do not knowingly accept advertisements offering to impersonate students, complete live graded assessments on their behalf or supply assessed work for submission as their own. Advertising for learning or research support must describe its scope honestly and must not encourage academic misconduct.

Unlawful, discriminatory, hateful or sexually explicit advertising, and advertising that infringes intellectual-property rights, is not permitted.

Third-party advertising networks

Some advertisements may be delivered automatically by third-party advertising networks. These placements can vary between visitors, and we may not review every individual advertisement before it appears.

An advertisement appearing on the site is not, by itself, an endorsement or a verification of the advertiser. Readers can report inappropriate advertisements so we can investigate and seek removal or blocking through the relevant provider.

Privacy and advertising technologies

Advertising and analytics providers may use cookies, device identifiers or similar technologies to deliver and measure content. Our Privacy Policy explains our approach to personal information and should be read alongside this policy.

Advertising technologies must be used with appropriate notices and any consent or controls required for the processing involved. This policy does not itself constitute consent to tracking. Readers can also review their browser settings and the privacy controls offered by the relevant advertising provider.

External offers and transactions

Before purchasing from a third-party advertiser, check the identity of the seller, the full price, the offer conditions and the available refund or complaints process. Leaving NOUN Update may take you to a website governed by separate terms and privacy practices.

Report concerns about advertisements displayed here even where a purchase took place elsewhere. Publishing an advertisement does not mean we can control an external seller or resolve every transaction dispute.

Review, correction and removal

We may request supporting information, reject a proposed advertisement or suspend or remove a placement that is misleading, unsuitable or inconsistent with this policy. A previous approval does not prevent a later review.

Commercial terms for directly arranged placements should be agreed separately. An advertising agreement does not override our editorial standards or permit misleading claims.

Report an advertisement or make an enquiry

Email info@nounupdate.com with the subject Advertising concern to report an advertisement. Include the page address, the approximate date and time, the advertiser name and, where possible, a screenshot or destination link. Do not include passwords, one-time passcodes or full payment-card details.
