A delegation of staff from the Kano Study Centres of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by former Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late university Bursar, Mallam Nasiru Marafa.
The delegation met with the late Bursar’s mother and other members of his family while they were in Kano ahead of a journey to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, for Umrah.
The visit provided members of the NOUN community in Kano with an opportunity to personally express their sympathy to the family following Mallam Marafa’s death.
Members of the delegation remembered the late Bursar for his service to the university and described him as a dedicated and committed member of the NOUN community.
Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu offered prayers for the deceased and prayed that Almighty Allah grant him forgiveness and Jannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for strength and comfort for members of the family as they continue to mourn their loss.
Speaking on behalf of Centre Directors during the visit, Mr Mudassir Ahmad Ishaq described the late Mallam Nasiru Marafa as a respected leader and father figure.
He said the NOUN community in Kano shared in the family’s grief and would continue to remember the late Bursar’s contributions to the institution.
Other members of staff who participated in the visit also offered prayers for the deceased and for the safety of members of the family during their journey to the Holy Land.
Responding on behalf of the family, the mother of the late Bursar expressed appreciation for the visit and the support shown by NOUN management, Professor Adamu and members of staff from the Kano Study Centres.
The condolence visit is one of several expressions of sympathy from members of the university community following the passing of Mallam Nasiru Marafa.
His death has drawn tributes from colleagues and stakeholders who worked with him during his service at the National Open University of Nigeria.
The university’s Bursary plays a major role in the financial administration of NOUN, making the loss significant to the institution and those who worked closely with him.
