The National Open University of Nigeria has trained SERVICOM representatives from its headquarters and study centres on records management, communication and service delivery.
The session took place on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, at the university’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, as part of its third-quarter SERVICOM meeting and Customer Service Week activities.
SERVICOM Director, Ms Tayo Olowola, urged participants to apply the training in their respective units to improve professionalism and administrative performance.
Presenting on records management, Mrs Kikelomo Aina explained that reliable documentation supports enquiries, audits and continuity when staff responsibilities change. She warned that weak record-keeping could cause missing files, delays and unauthorised disclosure.
Participants examined digital approaches including barcode tracking, electronic document-management systems, controlled access and activity logs.
Acting Director of Human Resources, Mrs Doris Nzenwa, also stressed accurate file registration and monitoring. She said official correspondence should identify its author and include essential details such as the date, address, subject and signature. nounnews.nou.edu.ng
The training follows NOUN’s September learner-support retreat, where study-centre officials were encouraged to document cases, follow established communication channels and refer matters beyond their authority to the appropriate office.
