The Lagos Zonal Office of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has welcomed a new Director following a formal leadership handover from Professor F. Fatimayin to Dr Nimisore M. Akano.
The change follows recent staff postings and redeployments carried out by the university.
Professor Fatimayin concluded a two-year tenure as Director of the Lagos Zonal Office and formally handed responsibility for the office to Dr Akano.
During the transition ceremony, the outgoing Director introduced the heads of the various units within the Zonal Office to her successor and expressed appreciation to members of staff for the support she received during her time in charge.
Professor Fatimayin acknowledged the cooperation and goodwill of staff throughout her tenure and encouraged them to extend similar support to the incoming Director.
She stressed that collaboration among members of staff remains important to sustaining progress and improving the operations of the Zonal Office.
The new Director, Dr Akano, in turn acknowledged the contributions of her predecessor and commended Professor Fatimayin for her service to the university.
Dr Akano called on staff members to work together and maintain a strong culture of teamwork as the office enters a new phase of leadership.
She indicated that cooperation and improved service delivery would be important priorities under the new administration.
The Lagos Zonal Office occupies an important position in NOUN’s operations, providing administrative coordination and support within one of the university’s busiest regions.
Effective coordination at zonal and study-centre levels remains particularly important to students because many academic and administrative matters are handled through NOUN’s decentralised network of centres.
The leadership transition comes as NOUN continues to strengthen its Open and Distance Learning operations and improve the services available to learners across the country.
Students under centres coordinated through the Lagos zone are expected to continue accessing their normal services during the transition.
No disruption to normal academic activities has been announced as a result of the change in leadership.
