The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has commenced the deployment of Project Administration System 4 (PAS 4) as part of efforts to improve the management of students’ projects and strengthen the university’s digital academic processes.

The development was officially announced on 8 September 2026, following a workshop on the effective use of PAS 4 held at the university’s headquarters in Abuja on 28 August 2026.

According to NOUN, PAS 4 is designed to provide a more efficient and centralised system for managing project supervision, assessment, monitoring, documentation and academic records.

What Is PAS 4?

PAS means Project Administration System. It is the platform used by NOUN to manage important academic activities connected to students’ projects and other supervised submissions.

The new PAS 4 system is expected to improve how these processes are handled by providing better coordination between students, supervisors, Study Centres and relevant academic officers.

Why Is NOUN Introducing PAS 4?

The university says the new system is intended to improve efficiency, accountability and transparency in project administration.

PAS 4 is expected to help with:

Project submission

Supervision

Assessment

Monitoring

Documentation

Record management

The development forms part of NOUN’s wider digital transformation of academic and administrative processes.

Training and Deployment Have Started

Before the public announcement, NOUN had already begun preparing relevant officers for the new system.

A PAS 4 workshop was held at the university headquarters on 28 August 2026.

Another stakeholder engagement session was organised for Study Centre Directors and Desk Officers on 1 September 2026, with more than 460 participants reportedly involved.

NOUN has also stated that further sensitisation will be organised for:

Students

Project supervisors

External examiners

This means more student-facing information is expected as the deployment progresses.

Who Will PAS 4 Affect?

The rollout is particularly important for NOUN students undertaking academic projects and other activities handled through the Project Administration System.

It will also affect:

Undergraduate project students

Postgraduate students

Project supervisors

Study Centre Directors

PAS Desk Officers

Academic departments

External examiners

Students currently working on their projects should therefore pay close attention to instructions from their Study Centres and official NOUN channels.

Has Every Student Been Moved to PAS 4 Already?

Not necessarily.

NOUN has confirmed that deployment has commenced, but the university has not announced a single compulsory migration date for every student.

Students should therefore avoid assuming that all existing project processes have immediately changed.

Anyone already using the current PAS process should continue following official instructions from their Study Centre, department, supervisor or PAS Desk Officer until NOUN provides further guidance.

What Students Should Do Now

Students involved in projects, seminars, Teaching Practice or related academic submissions should:

Continue following the current instructions from their Study Centre and department.

Keep copies of submitted documents, approvals, receipts and project records.

Avoid duplicate submissions because of the PAS 4 announcement.

Watch for official PAS 4 sensitisation information.

Confirm any new submission procedure before uploading important work.

Avoid giving portal login details to unauthorised persons claiming they can migrate accounts to PAS 4.

Students should also be cautious about unofficial messages requesting new payments or registrations unless such instructions are clearly confirmed by NOUN.

What This Means for NOUN Students

The introduction of PAS 4 may eventually change how students submit projects, interact with supervisors, track project progress and receive assessment updates.

For now, the most important point is that deployment has started, but the university has not yet announced a universal student migration deadline.

Students should wait for specific instructions relating to their programme, Study Centre or project before changing an existing submission process.

NOUN Update Will Continue Monitoring the Rollout

NOUN Update will continue monitoring the PAS 4 deployment, especially for further information on:

Student login procedures

Migration requirements

Project submission workflow

Supervisor interaction

Assessment and grading

Seminar and practicum submissions

Project status tracking

Any confirmed student-facing changes will be shared once officially released.

Students are encouraged to rely on their official NOUN channels and verified NOUN Update information before taking action.
