Fully Funded MTN–MUSON Music Scholarship 2026/2027: Applications Open to Eligible NOUN Students

Eligible students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) who are talented musicians can apply for the fully funded MTN Foundation–MUSON Music Scholars Programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The scholarship provides successful applicants with professional music training leading to an internationally recognised Diploma in Music. The programme is organised by the MTN Foundation in partnership with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).

Important application deadline

Applications close on Sunday, 23 August 2026.

Interested applicants should apply immediately because MUSON has stated that incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Who can apply?

Applicants must:

Be between 18 and 35 years old.

Possess an SSCE, GCE or equivalent qualification with credits in at least five subjects, including English Language.

Have obtained the five credits in no more than two sittings.

Possess Grade 5 or higher certificates in both Music Theory and Music Practical.

Present certificates issued by MUSON or another recognised music examination body, such as ABRSM or Trinity College London.

Possess a valid JAMB result.

A current NOUN student may apply if they meet these published requirements. However, applicants should understand that the MUSON Diploma in Music is a full-time, two-year programme and should consider whether they can combine it with their NOUN studies.

What happens after application?

Only applicants who meet the requirements will be shortlisted. According to MUSON, shortlisted applicants are expected to be notified by Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

Shortlisted candidates will participate in:

A written examination.

A practical music audition.

An interview.

Admission will be offered to candidates who successfully complete the selection process.
