The Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL), has appointed Professor Dorothy Ofoha as its new Director.
The official handover took place at the RETRIDOL Conference Room where the outgoing Director, Professor Christine Ofulue, formally transferred leadership to Professor Ofoha.
Speaking at the event, Professor Ofulue shared her experience working with the RETRIDOL team since her appointment in 2021.
She highlighted key achievements during her tenure, including the organisation of 31 different workshops, the Learning Analytics Project, and over 34 monthly Discourse Webinar Series.
She thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters, for restoring RETRIDOL to its proper position and for giving the institute the needed support to grow.
Professor Ofulue, who is now the Deputy Vice-Chancllor, Technology, Innovation & Research, also noted that the institute now has ten academic staff members, compared to the three she met when she assumed office.
She expressed appreciation to both academic and administrative staff, stressing the importance of teamwork, and advised the new Director to always appreciate staff efforts, as this encourages quality work.
RETRIDOL is not just a place to work; it is a place with vision. Rewards do not always come in naira and kobo. Recognition will always come, even if it takes time, Ofulue said.
Professor Ofulue also commended the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Doris Ezenwa, for putting the administrative unit in order, advising the new Director to focus on Internally- Generated Revenue (IGR) and to explore opportunities for sustainability.
She assured her successor of her continued support.
In her response, Professor Dorothy Ofoha thanked the management for the confidence shown in her appointment.
She expressed deep appreciation to Professor Ofulue for her strong leadership, sincerity of purpose, and commitment to service, which helped reposition the institute.
Professor Ofoha assured staff that unfinished programmes would be addressed during her tenure and called for the cooperation and support of both academic and administrative staff to sustain and build on the solid foundation already laid.
