A high-powered team of the National Universities Commission (NUC), on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 visited Enugu Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria( NOUN), to carry out its statutory responsibility of accrediting academic programmes at the centre.

The course to undergo the accreditation exercise is B.Sc. Public Administration in the university's Faculty of Management Sciences. Prof. Adegba O. Sunday, who headed the team, was accompanied by Prof. Kontein Trinya, panelist (ODL), Prof. Ahmadu Hamman, a member, and Mrs. Loveth Peter Eze, NUC representative.

Representatives from the NOUN's headquarters included Prof. Ali S.Y. Bagah, Head of Department, Public Administration, Mrs. Florence Okeke, Deputy Registrar, DAP and Mr. Emeka Don-Onu, Deputy Director, Protocol. The team was warmly welcomed by the centre director, Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo, who also led them round toward assessing and inspecting facilities at the centre.

The team expressed satisfaction about their interactions with the counseling unit, store unit, Information, Advice & Guidance Unit, South-east Incubation Centre, General Counseling Unit, among others.

At the e-exams hall, the team hailed the centre for the availability of functional computer systems totalling 297, which, according to Prof. Trinya, the number has exceeded the required specification.

They also expressed excitement on what they described as updated books and journals at the physical library, after the team had meticulously and thoroughly checked them.

At the e-library unit, Dr. Mercy E. Okwoli, skillfully demonstrated to the team how to assess databases for information retrieval. This climaxed when Ms. Chimbusomma, a 400-level student of Public Administration, showcased how to assess databases from her portal to the admiration of the team.

The centre provided all academic materials the team required about public administration, the staff files, and the availability of facilitators. The centre expressed optimism that the accreditation exercise would scale through.
