Surulere Centre Holds Advocacy Walk, Visits Federal Fire Service

In its efforts at creating awareness among the people of its environs, the Surulere Study Centre of the National Open University Nigeria (NOUN) has held an advocacy walk around to drive home the need for individuals to enrol in the university.

The campaign movement, led by the centre director, Prof. Yemisi Ogunlela,started at Clegg Street, and went through Ojuelegba under the bridge, as well as Yaba market and its environs.

All the places visited, the message centred on creating awareness about the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) educational system, which is at their doorsteps.

The director, while engaging with the people at intervals, stated the purpose of the campaign and explained the closeness of the centre, its activities and the benefits of enrolling into any programme of their choice, which comes with flexibility as well as other advantages over other institutions in Nigeria.

NOUN is a federal government-approved institution with accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC). You require no JAMB and there is no strike, she said.

NOUN News correspondent observed that the advocacy walk was successful with positive reactions from the people. Flyers shared, inquiries answered as interested persons promised to pay a visit to the centre.

Equally, the team paid a familiarity visit to the management of the Federal Fire Service, Lagos. Ogunlela, in her address, urged staff members to take advantage of the opportunity at NOUN to attain educational heights.

She captured the opportunities at their doorstep as 'learn at any place, at your pace' with NOUN, urging them to enrol in its various programmes. The team members took turns in explaining the university's method of admission, much to the admiration of the attentive staff.
