He commended NOUN for creating a flexible system which enables people to work and study at their own pace and time in a very simple way.
He opined that a lot of people are products of NOUN and pledged that he will keep encouraging more people to further their education at NOUN because people have seen the impact of the university and have testified to the quality of education it offers.
Ishiaka said that robust public awareness of the activities of the university would result in high patronage and participation of women in purdah in the system.
He added that through public enlightenment and awareness of the activities of the centre, many people will avail themselves of the opportunities offered by the university.
To achieve this ideal, the rector affirmed his institution's readiness to collaborate with the centre through the FM station in aggressive public enlightenment of its services and activities for the development of the community.
He requested the centre director to write formally to the institution for jingle production and other promotional activities of the university to be aired at the FM station.
Ishiaka assured the NOUN team that the station will work together with the study centre to get the public more enlightened about the activities and the operations of NOUN in Mubi Town and its environs.
Earlier, the centre director told his host that the essence of the visit was for management of the centre to familiarise and further strengthen the existing relationship between the university and the polytechnic.
The director commended the management of the FM radio station for their rich programmes, adding that the collaboration especially in the area of publicity would help people in the community to avail themselves of and embrace the system and operations of NOUN.
The director also visited the office of the librarian of the Polytechnic, Mr. Peter Odeh, and suggested the possibility of putting NOUN programmes in the polytechnic's newsletters for students to read and understand more about the admission processes as well as the flexible nature of NOUN system.
Odeh, who expressed delight at the visit, promised to call a full house meeting next January and invite the NOUN Study Centre to sensitise the library staff of the polytechnic on the activities and programmes of the university.
