The overseer of the newly inaugurated Egbe Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria, (NOUN) in Yagba West Local Government Area Kogi State, Dr. Josephine S. Aina, has disclosed that her mission and vision is to use the Centre as an agent for mass education.

She disclosed this during an interview with NOUNNEWS correspondent, in her office, adding that the Centre would also turn around the economic fortunes of the community.

Her words : 'This will improve the economic and social life of all within and around the community for a better future. Nobody deserves not to be educated with university education.'

According to Aina, the Centre is fully ready to address inevitable challenges, adding that the priority for now is to boost the enrollment by attracting more students. Recall that the Centre, which was established through community and individual efforts is set for academic activities and has commenced enrollment of students. Meanwhile as of the time of filling this report, Aina confirmed that the Centre had enrolled about 15 students.

We shall within the next five years do everything possible to make this centre a model Community Study Centre through improved and impressive enrollment, Aina stated. Speaking further, Aina appealed to the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, through the Registrar and the Directorate of Human Resources, to help approve the deployment of additional senior staff to the centre to assist in its effective and efficient operation.
