The National Housing Fund (NHF) Unit of the Bursary, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has facilitated an interactive session between staff of the university and estate developers as part of efforts for the staffers to patronise and own affordable properties.
The session, which was held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Convocation Arena, NOUN headquarters, Jabi, Abuja, has the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Villa Homes, and T-Pumpy as guests.
In her opening remarks, Head of the Unit, Mrs. Busari Idayat A., said the management was interested in making housing available and affordable for staff, hence the management's approval for some developers to make presentations on their housing packages.
In their presentations, the FHA said their properties are affordable, in a good location, and well-secured, adding that they have all the title documents for their properties.
FHA also showcased to the staff what they call Smart Packaging Solutions, consisting of a hybrid solar panel, an inverter, and a gas cylinder.
Similarly, for the Villa Homes, they informed members of staff that mortgages could be processed within six months, even though installment payments are also allowed.
The representative of the company also hinted that the staff cooperative of the university could buy land from them.
In the same vein, T-Pumpy, in its presentation, said interested members of staff could get access to the property through a loan board or Cooperative, adding that the payment will be spread over nine months or one year.
While assuring members of staff of their genuineness and openness in their mode of operations, T-Pumpy implored the staff to seize the opportunity at their disposal to own a property with ease.
The event attracted questions from members of staff, who thronged in their numbers, and answers were given by the representatives of the companies.
Drawing the curtain on the session, the Bursar, Malam Nasiru Marafa, represented by the Deputy Bursar, Mr. Paul Akom, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, for hosting the event.
Marafa commended the guests for the title documents and thanked them for their wonderful presentations.
The highlight of the event was the pictorial presentations of their properties as well as the distribution of their flyers for viewing and access to the contact addresses of their respective companies.
