The advocacy team of the Awa-Ijebu Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has embarked on a series of advocacy drives in the community by visiting both government and private institutions to enhance enrollment.
The centre had initially dispatched letters to various organisations, including religious groups, local government areas, hospitals, media houses, military units, and the police station, for subsequent audiences to showcase the university's activities.
The team, led by the former study centre director, Prof. Timothy Ishola, and his successor, Dr. Olufunke Osikomaiya, visited HRH Oba Habib Amos Awobajo, Limeri of Awa-Ijebu Kingdom, for an introduction, familiarisation and discussion about NOUN and the community.
On his part, the Oba expressed his support and acknowledged the need for more public awareness about the university.
At the second point of call, the team visited and participated in the Diocesan Annual Women's Conference programme held at the Bishop Awosoga, where the centre directors, Dr. Olufunke Osikomaiya and Mrs. Mary Omotayo, addressed the audience on NOUN's programmes and their merits, such as the flexibility, affordability, and quality education it brings to the doorstep of Nigerians.
They were also at the Ijebu Ode General Hospital, where the duo of Dr. Kunle Adebanjo and Mrs. Mary Omotayo explained the NOUN's admission process, encouraging staff to apply for programmes, even as the centre director expressed gratitude to the hospital's management for the opportunity.
The hospital's Chief Medical Director, Dr. Adeoye Banjo, thanked the advocacy team for coming to enlighten the staff of the hospital and encouraged the participants to utilise NOUN's programmes.
