Prof. Jonathan E. Aliede, who has piloted the affairs of Fugar Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, Edo State, as centre director, recently handed over the executive powers of the centre to an acting director.
Aliede, who has been on that saddle for almost five years, handed over the reins of authority to Mr. Femi Joseph Akpata, a principal assistant registrar at the centre, who incidentally was the same officer who handed over to Aliede after having acted as the centre director for about a year following the exit of a former director, Dr. Comfort Lawani, in 2017.
The professor, whose exit followed his recall to the Faculty of Social Sciences, expressed immense appreciation to the management of NOUN for the wide range of opportunities given to its staff to realise their professional and administrative dreams, enhance their status, and contribute to the growth and development of the great institution.
He expressed the hope that, having been part of his team since October 2018, Mr. Akpata was well equipped and positioned to take up the mantle of leadership at Fugar Community Study Centre.
Aliede urged the staff of the centre to give the acting director maximum support and cooperation, reminding them that it was their collective responsibility to translate their efforts to a sustained increased student enrolment and a harmonious study centre/community relationship.
Akpata, while receiving the documents handed over to him, thanked Aliede, on behalf of the staff of the centre, for his hard work, focus, and diligence, which sustained the achievements of the study centre and wished him well in his future assignments in the institution.
Earlier, during a farewell courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of the community, the Ukphe Ukpi of Unone, HRH Emmanuel Ayekhele Ogah, Aliede expressed his gratitude to the royal father for his support of him and the centre during his tenure as the director of the centre.
Ogah thanked the outgoing director for his selfless service at the study centre in the last five years, notwithstanding the inadequacies in the area.
gave his royal blessings to Aliede and prayed that God would continue to bless, guide, and protect him in his future endeavours.
