As part of strategy to enhance service delivery among members of staff and to provide up-to-date information about the operations of NOUN, the Oka-Akoko Community Study Centre on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, held a retreat for staff of the centre, with the theme, 'Going Beyond the Stereotype in Service Delivery.'
The centre director, Dr. Joseph Babajide, in his keynote address entitled 'Good Working Attitude: A Derivative for Job Satisfaction,' informed the staff that the retreat was necessitated by the need to appraise the activities of staff as well as ensure optimal service delivery.
Babajide admonished staff to put in more effort in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He further charged them to always go beyond the ordinary in the discharge of their responsibilities to students, the public, and the university.
The director also encouraged them to put on a pleasant mien and be courteous always while attending to students and the general public as no one has ever had a second chance to make a first impression.
Mrs. Fehintola Aribigbola, an administrative officer at the centre, in her presentation spoke extensively on the core values and line of communication in NOUN, while Mr. Pius Akintola, the centre accountant spoke on 'Internally Generated Revenue (IGR): The Role of Staff.'
Mr. Oluwaseun Adeyemi and Mr Suleiman Jimoh, both of them from the Administrative Unit spoke on the 'Role of Staff in Students' Registration' and 'Keeping the Centre Environment Clean' respectively.
The retreat also featured a discussion session on 'Re-strategising Advocacy Drive for Massive Enrolment.'
The advocacy methods currently being employed by the centre were appraised while key methods that could yield massive enrolment were also identified.
The final lap of the programme was the presentation on the roles of committees at the centre and the proper handling of tools, equipment, and centre facilities.
Staff who participated in the retreat commended the centre director highly for putting together such an impactful retreat which they believed would go a long way to enhance efficient service delivery at the centre, while promising to improve upon their performance towards achieving optimal service delivery.
In a related development, Babajide in an effort to increase students' enrolment, led members of staff of the centre to grace the 2023 edition of Oka Day Celebration, an epoch-making event that took place on Saturday 5th August, 2023.
The event afforded management of the centre an opportunity to talk and interact with people from different walks of life individually and collectively on the operations of the university.
